New public park in Khlong Sam Wa area to be available for service in early March.

A banana breeding learning center, as known as Suan Kuay Ma, in Khlong Sam Wa area will have fully been turned to be a new public park to support a variety of public services in early March 2022.

The area of ​​the used-to-be a banana plantation was originally a vacant lot along the canal, with an area of ​​2 Rai, located at the end of Sam Wa Road, Bang Chan Subdistrict, Khlong Sam Wa District. At present, the area has been renovated to locate a public park, resting pavilions, a library in the middle, a Ma plant garden with its 14 types, a skateboard deck, 43 banana plantations, ponds, jogging paths, and wall painting. When the service is open, it will benefit anyone who seeks recreation, spots to exercise, and places to learn about Ma plant, and various types of bananas.

Pol. Gen. Asawin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, revealed that according to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s policy, more green areas and parks in the Bangkok area are being added so that people will enjoy better living quality near their housing, especially those who live near canals. The canal-revamping projects across Bangkok aim to invite every sector such as local business owners, residents, and other related public agencies to conserve clean water, and turn the surrounding areas by canals to everyone’s benefits such as commuting streets, resting areas, and exercising venues.

Bangkok now has 32 parks spread across Bangkok with more in progress and present parks being extended. The biggest park is King Rama IX Park (Suan Luang Ror Kao) in Prawet at 498 Rai (or 197 acres). Other 9 large parks to visit are Wachirabenchatat Park in Chatuchak, Lumpini Park in Lumpini, Seri Thai Park in Bueng Kum, Queen Sirikit Park in Chatuchak, Chatuchak Park in Chatuchak, Benjakitti Park in Phrom Phong, Wareepirom Park in Khlong Sam Wa, Nawamin Phirom Park in Bueng Kum, and Thonburirom Park in Thonburi.
