During the upcoming Songkran festival, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will take precautionary measures and designate certain areas of the city as alcohol-free zones in order to reduce the number of traffic accidents and guarantee the wellbeing of the general public.
During the upcoming celebrations, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt revealed that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will implement measures to reduce the number of instances of drunk driving and other violations that occur among vacationers. Tuesday was the day when the announcement was made by the governor following a meeting with the Alcohol Beverage Control Committee of the BMA (4 Apr).
One of the measures that will be allowed by the BMA is the designation of alcohol-free events in 35 locations across 24 districts. At these events, visitors will be strongly encouraged not to bring any alcohol into the area in order to ensure the safety of the general public, particularly families with children.
While this is going on, anyone who has a problem with illegal alcohol stands selling drinks in restricted areas or selling alcohol to underage customers can file a complaint through the Traffy Fondue application.
As the Thai capital prepares to host large-scale celebrations for the first time since the pandemic, the governor of Bangkok emphasized that BMA officials and related agencies will work to minimize the number of accidents that occur to the greatest extent possible.
