Police Commander Orders Swift Investigation into Sticker Tribute Issue Revealed by MP

Police Commander Pol. Gen. Damrongsak Kittipraphat has shed light on the case involving Mr. Viroj Lakkhana Adisorn, a party-list MP for the Kao Klai Party, who exposed the issue of tribute to truck stickers. In response, Pol. Gen. Damrongsak has ordered the National Police Inspector General to swiftly investigate the matter. Additionally, the Central Investigation Bureau has formed a special working group to conduct a parallel investigation.

To ensure a comprehensive examination of the sticker tribute issue, Pol. Gen. Damrongsak announced the appointment of Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat Pankaew, deputy chief of the Anti-Corruption Commission, as the acting Highway Patrol Commander. Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat, known for his work in combating corruption, will oversee the inspection of the tribute stickers. Moreover, a dedicated unit within the Central Investigation Police has been established to gather evidence and scrutinize the actions of the involved personnel.

Pol. Gen. Damrongsak acknowledged the existence of the tribute practice, which has been rumored for a significant period. Although it had temporarily faded from public attention, the recent resurgence of the issue necessitated prompt investigation. The tribute involves both givers and recipients, with the transportation system acting as the donor and government officials as the recipients. Pol. Gen. Damrongsak emphasized the need to thoroughly investigate all dimensions of the matter.

Furthermore, Pol. Gen. Damrongsak discussed the reshuffling of personnel within the Central Investigation Headquarters. This reassignment aims to facilitate independent fact-finding by the National Police Inspector General and to enable the subsequent committee to assess complaints related to the police. The commander asserted that if any wrongdoing is uncovered, appropriate action will be taken without hesitation.

In addressing concerns about other tribute stickers, such as dice stickers associated with foreign workers, Pol. Gen. Damrongsak assured the public that all relevant information would be meticulously examined. He urged caution in sharing and posting information, encouraging individuals to verify its authenticity before making judgments that may unjustly implicate the authorities.

Pol. Gen. Damrongsak clarified that the intent behind addressing this issue is not to wage war against stickers, but rather to eradicate the practice of tribute. He emphasized that concrete evidence is required before drawing conclusions and emphasized the importance of awaiting the results of the investigations.
