UK Startup Unveils Top 100 Beaches, Thailand’s Maya Bay Ranks Fifth

BeachAtlas, a UK-based startup specializing in beach-related information, has revealed the findings of the 2024 Golden Beach Award, presenting the top 100 beaches globally. Thailand’s Maya Bay achieved an impressive fifth place, trailing closely behind destinations like Bora Bora in French Polynesia, Boulders Beach in South Africa, Waikiki Beach in the USA, and Copacabana in Brazil, which secured the top four positions, respectively.

Maya Bay is celebrated for its pristine white sands, striking turquoise waters, and dramatic cliffs. The bay gained widespread recognition after featuring prominently in the movie “The Beach,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, solidifying its status as a coveted destination for travelers worldwide. This year, the awards incorporated a diverse range of selection criteria, encompassing the beach’s natural beauty, its impact on local communities, and its cultural significance.

Additionally, the rankings spotlighted other Thai beaches, with Pattaya Beach claiming the twelfth spot and Railay West Beach securing the sixty-sixth position. The expanded criteria facilitated a comprehensive assessment, acknowledging a variety of beaches for their individual charms and allure.
