Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Discuss Investment and Tourism
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin recently met with John Lee Ka-chiu, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, to explore opportunities for enhancing investment and tourism between Thailand and Hong Kong.
The meeting follows their previous discussion during the Prime Minister’s visit to Hong Kong in October 2023. Both leaders expressed satisfaction at reconvening to strengthen the economic ties between the two regions.
Thailand and Hong Kong have a history of close economic cooperation, with a steadily increasing trade value. During the talks, they explored avenues to further boost trade and investment. Hong Kong’s leader praised Prime Minister Srettha’s vision for fostering an investment-friendly environment in Thailand. In turn, Prime Minister Srettha lauded Hong Kong’s robust infrastructure, noting its role in attracting investment and facilitating international conferences.
On the tourism front, both leaders agreed on the importance of exchanging tourists to benefit both economies. Thailand expressed gratitude to Hong Kong for hosting Songkran celebrations, which have significantly boosted travel between the regions. They committed to ongoing collaboration to enhance trade and investment cooperation.
Officials and dignitaries from both sides attended the meeting, underscoring the importance of the discussions and the mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
