Bangkok, June 26, 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently concluded its “Eco-Discovery in Amazing Thailand” product showcase from June 22-25, 2024, aimed at promoting responsible tourism and highlighting Thailand as a leading sustainable tourism destination.
Mrs. Patsee Permvongsenee, TAT Executive Director of ASEAN South Asia and South Pacific Region, emphasized that the event spotlighted Thai tourism enterprises recognized for excellence in sustainable practices, honored through the prestigious 14th Thailand Tourism Awards (TTA). The three-day initiative showcased socially responsible tourism experiences across various regions, underscoring Thailand’s cultural richness and commitment to sustainability.
The event brought together 24 travel professionals alongside 11 content creators, bloggers, and influencers from ASEAN, South Asia, and South Pacific markets. Participants explored award-winning responsible tourism experiences in Chiang Rai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Samut Songkhram, and Phetchaburi from June 22 to 24.
In Chiang Rai, the itinerary featured the Chiang Saen Social Tourism Community Enterprise and Ban Tha Khan Thong Homestay, both recipients of TTA Silver Awards in the Attraction – Local and Community category.
Nakhon Ratchasima highlighted the Ban Suk Somboon Social Tourism Community Enterprise, also a TTA Silver Award winner in the Attraction – Local and Community category.
The Samut Songkhram-Phetchaburi route included visits to Baanrimklong Homestay (TTA Silver Award, Attraction – Learning and Doing category), Ban Rai Krang Tourism Community (TTA Silver Award, Attraction – Local and Community category), and Ban Tham Sua Homestay (TTA Silver Award, Low Carbon & Sustainability – Attraction category).
The event concluded on June 25 at The Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok, with a product debrief, trade meet, and networking dinner. The Product Debrief provided a platform for overseas participants to share recommendations based on their firsthand experiences, contributing to the enhancement of Thai tourism products and services.
Participants also learned about the CF-Hotels initiative and TAT’s ongoing efforts to promote socially and environmentally responsible tourism. The Trade Meet facilitated business discussions between 20 Thai tourism enterprises, including TTA winners and CF-Hotels participants, and international tourism professionals.
The Networking and farewell dinner brought together 80 participants, including Thai tourism operators, overseas delegates, public and private sector partners, and local media representatives, marking the event’s successful conclusion.
The “Eco-Discovery in Amazing Thailand” event is expected to significantly boost Thailand’s sustainable tourism profile, reaching an estimated 1,000,000 individuals and reinforcing the country’s reputation as a premier destination committed to responsible tourism practices.
