A disturbing incident unfolded beneath Bangkok’s On Nut BTS Station as a Thai woman, identified as Pimpisa or Mingju on TikTok, recounted a harrowing attack by a homeless man in a plea for justice and public awareness.
Pimpisa took to TikTok to share her ordeal, describing how she was returning home via the BTS Skytrain when the unprovoked assault occurred on Sunday night, July 7. As she neared her condominium near the station, she encountered the homeless man who began shouting aggressively at her, demanding to know why she was looking at him.
Ignoring the outbursts initially, Pimpisa quickened her pace. However, the man persisted, closing the distance until he suddenly struck her in the face before fleeing the scene, leaving her shocked and seeking refuge at a nearby motorcycle shelter.
In response to the attack, local motorcycle taxi drivers rallied to apprehend the assailant while Pimpisa alerted the police. Despite their swift action, authorities could only detain the man for 24 hours due to legal constraints, pending further proceedings contingent on health checks mandated within the same timeframe.
Complicating matters, Pimpisa faced a bureaucratic hurdle at the Forensic Medicine Institute, where a backlog prevented her from promptly obtaining the necessary documentation. Nonetheless, a drug test administered to the suspect yielded positive results, ensuring his continued detention while legal measures progressed.
Reflecting on her ordeal, Pimpisa disclosed suffering minor injuries but emphasized the lasting impact of the incident on her sense of security. She urged authorities to tackle the broader issue of homelessness, particularly among individuals grappling with substance abuse, advocating for sustainable solutions to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
