BANGKOK (NBT WORLD) – Thailand Space Week 2024, themed “Converging Technologies, Connecting People,” has officially opened, marking Southeast Asia’s largest event dedicated to space technology. Running until Saturday at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, the event aims to bolster Thailand’s role in the region’s space industry and showcases emerging technologies.
Organized by the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), this year’s event features over 70 global organizations, with approximately 3,000 participants from 34 countries and more than 100 exhibition booths. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society Prasert Jantararuangtong praised Thailand Space Week as a significant milestone in advancing the nation’s space technology and positioning Thailand as a leader in the new S-Curve economy.
Thailand has committed resources to satellite development, space infrastructure, and potential spaceport projects, emphasizing international partnerships for sustainable progress. The Thai government has also made youth engagement a priority, promoting careers in space and technology through educational initiatives and interactive activities to inspire the next generation.
In addition to exhibitions and presentations, the event provides an essential networking and knowledge-sharing platform, welcoming representatives from China, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and the Philippines.
