Pickup Truck Collision Injures 20 Students in Sukhothai

A collision between a pickup truck and a school vehicle in Sukhothai province on February 11, 2025, left 20 students injured, with three of them suffering serious injuries. The incident occurred in Ban Dan Lan Hoi district when the truck slammed into the rear of a modified pickup truck acting as a school bus.

Eyewitnesses reported that the truck was speeding when it struck the school vehicle. Many of the students on board, some of whom were standing, were thrown from the vehicle due to the force of the collision. Emergency responders quickly transported all the injured students to local hospitals for treatment.

Police investigations revealed that the driver of the pickup truck, responsible for the rear-end crash, was breathalyzed and registered a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 133mg/dL. This is significantly above the legal limit of 50mg/dL for drivers aged 20 and above in Thailand. The legal BAC limit is even stricter for drivers under 20, set at only 2mg/dL.

The accident serves as a reminder of the dangers of impaired driving, and the authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In attendance were local police officers and medical personnel, who coordinated efforts to ensure the injured students received timely care.
