Thailand is contending with a renewed surge in Covid-19 infections, reporting 12,181 new cases on Friday, according to data released by the Department of Disease Control on Saturday, June 15, 2025. The latest figures mark a significant rise in daily infections and bring the country’s total number of confirmed cases to 471,781.
Health officials also reported three additional fatalities, increasing the national Covid-related death toll to 151. The recent spike has prompted renewed calls from authorities for the public to observe strict hygiene practices, wear masks, and avoid crowded areas. Vaccination efforts are also being ramped up to contain the spread of the virus.
Bangkok continues to be the hardest-hit area, registering 3,955 new cases—the highest among all provinces. Other affected provinces include Chiang Mai with 533 new cases, Nakhon Ratchasima with 448, Chon Buri reporting 417, and Nonthaburi with 264 cases. These regions are intensifying testing and isolation protocols in response to the uptick in cases.
Officials from the Ministry of Public Health are urging people to adhere to established Covid-19 prevention guidelines and to participate in the national vaccination program, particularly in urban centers where population density increases the risk of transmission.
The government is deploying additional health resources to affected areas and coordinating with local health departments to ensure timely intervention. Authorities have reiterated the importance of avoiding unnecessary travel and maintaining social distancing, especially in public and enclosed spaces.
