Tissue factory closed after fatal Saraburi fire

A tissue paper manufacturing plant in Saraburi province has been ordered to shut down temporarily as officials investigate a deadly fire that killed eight workers and left two others missing. The incident occurred on July 1 at the River Pro Pulp and Paper facility in Hemaraj Industrial Estate, Nong Sang district.

Authorities confirmed that most of the deceased were on the second and third floors of the factory when the fire broke out around midday. The intense blaze caused the building’s roof to collapse, further complicating firefighting efforts and emergency response.

The Saraburi Provincial Industrial Office issued the closure order while a formal investigation is underway to determine the cause and assess potential violations of safety regulations. In the meantime, nearby industrial facilities will also be subject to inspections to evaluate their fire prevention and emergency systems.

Industry Minister Akanat Prompan, who visited the site following the fire, viewed the damage and was briefed on the ongoing recovery and safety review efforts.
