Row Suebsilpa boat to follow footsteps of King Krungthonburi

Suebsilpa boating will be organized on Sunday, March 20, 2022, from 5 AM to 2 PM. to not only honor His Majesty the King of Thonburi, but also promote historical tourism in the canal way, stimulate the local economy, and create awareness of canal conservation.

One of the main activities on the day will be boat trip activities Khlong Bangkok Yai – Khlong Mon route from the boat boarding point at Wat Kalayanamit Chao Phraya River Cycle into the Bangkok Yai Canal, Khlong Bang Luang, Khlong Mon, out into the Chao Phraya River, ending at the boarding point at Wat Kalayanamit, with a total distance of about 10.34 km, with the opening ceremony in front of the Phra Prang of Wat Arun Ratchawararam. Moreover, a photo contest will be organized along the boating route. Pictures on the day of the event will be judged by the criteria of beauty and hashtags. The winner of the contest will receive a cash prize. with certificates as follows: first prize money 5,000 baht, first runner-up prize of 3,000 baht, second runner-up prize worth 2,000 baht, 2 consolation prizes of 1,000 baht each.

For the types of boats participating in the event, 70 boats will be brought in with 30 supporting boats. There will also be 70 kayaks, 25 sup boards, and 5 wooden boats, totaling 100 boats. Outstanding tourist attractions along the route are Phra Prang of Wat Arun. Wichai Prasit Fort Wat Kalayanamit Hong Rattanaram Temple, Intharam Temple, Pradu Chimplee Temple Big Buddha of Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen Wat Kamphaeng Bang Chak Khlong Bang Luang Floating Market, Nak Klang Temple, etc. For those interested to join the event but without boating skills or a boat of their own, there will be a rowing training for a period of a day in advance of the event date, and a week before the event date. 

This grand tourism-promoting boating event is a big collaboration among many parties such as Bangkok Metropolitan Administration,  Permanent Secretary, Bangkok Yai District, Thon Buri District, Phasi Charoen District, Bangkok Noi District medical office Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Bureau, Municipal Affairs Office, Drainage Office Office of the Environment Bureau of Traffic and Transport and public relations office Representatives of network partners from external agencies such as the Navy, Marine Department, Icon Siam Company Limited, Joy Sport Company Limited, Thonburi Community History Center Securities and Exchange Commission Bangkok Yai Police Station, Niyom Phai Group, and Canal Tour Group.
