Creating Efficient Cities Doesn’t Need High Tech; Just an Idea

Chadcart speaks on the NIA’s SITE stage for creating equitable, compassionate cities as the theme. He announced a project about planting a million trees in Bangkok, which will install GPS coordinates and build the Traffic Fondue platform so that it can address issues happening in the city. It will also notify the relevant authorities immediately.

On June 23, Governor Mr Chadchat Sitthiphan led the National Innovation Agency (NIA) to co-host the 2022 Thailand Entrepreneurship and Innovation Expo (STARTUP x INNOVATION THAILAND EXPO: SITE 2022). The Bangkok government specifically promotes “Bangkok to Innovationcity,” a term inspired by the city and innovation. He said there are three aspects of urban life: getting up, working, and sleeping. He will adopt an innovative perspective as three policy guidelines to make the living condition more efficient.

1 Sustainability:
Cities cannot be a burden to the new generation. For example, we currently use landfills to dispose of waste, burdening the new generation. We have to see what innovative ways to deal with waste better.

2 Inclusive:
Innovation can solve the problem of equality for all in Bangkok. We can’t just focus on high-income earners; innovation is not just about a particular group; it has to meet the needs of everyone in society. Although we have luxury electric vehicles, many people still have to wait hours to get back to Chatuchak in a van Innovation requires equality for all.

3 Fair & Empathy.
Cities must be fair and considerate. Many people are occupying the canal. We must understand his life; this government is good. Find new homes for people along the canal.

Mr Chadchat also said that innovation is not necessarily high-tech; it can be straightforward. Still, there must be ideas and solutions that can add value to stakeholders, such as the “Million Tree Planting Project” we have donated 500,000 trees now, But how can we grow them to benefit? We use innovation with GPS to let us know where trees should be planted and take photos annually to update the condition. In addition, there is also a building platform, Traffic Fondue, which is a platform for reporting problems. If anyone encounters any community problems, they can send them here. The platform will send personnel to check the platform every morning. This can be done without the intervention of the mayor. Solve the problem On the first day of public use of the platform, 20,000 people have reported incidents. Now a total of 44,000 incidents have been accumulated, which we can use to measure the KPI (Key Performance Indicator) of civil servants.
