All three divisions of the Royal Thai Armed Forces have been ordered to prohibit the use of cannabis within their forces and to educate personnel about the risks of using the plant. The relevant departments have also been instructed to remind people of the risks of growing, importing or possessing cannabis.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Jittanat Punnothok, said that Prime Minister Chan-o-cha is applying a strict prohibition on the recreational use of cannabis among military staff, as well as the encouragement of its use on social media.
Colonel Jittanat said that all structures under the Ministry of Defense must strictly adhere to the legislation on cannabis consumption issued by the Ministry of Public Health and will only be allowed to use cannabis for medical purposes under close supervision.
