H.E. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosts the Plate to Planet Festival opening ceremony at Central World Plaza. This event promotes the 21 best Thai dishes in the APEC Future Food for Sustainability competition. The winner team’s meals will be presented to APEC leaders next month.
The competition seeks to identify sustainable recipes with a Thai twist, capitalizing on the current trend toward a more eco-friendly food culture. Approximately 2,000 competing teams were given the opportunity to develop original recipes with the help of professional chefs.
To further promote Thai cuisine, which has been acknowledged as the country’s important soft power, Mr. Anucha Nakasai, Minister attached to the Office of the Prime Minister, has noted that this competition provides Thai chefs with the opportunity to improve their talents and grow their companies.
The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week will take place in Thailand from November 14-19, and the winner team will get 1 million baht in addition to having their food served to world leaders.
