PM opens the Thailand-China Investment Forum

The Thai Prime Minister presided over today’s opening ceremony of the inaugural Thailand-China Investment Forum in Bangkok. The need of strategic alliances was stressed during the discussion.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha gave the keynote address at the inaugural Thailand-China Investment Forum, held today at the Shangri-La Bangkok Hotel, where he also served as forum chair.

He expressed hope that the event will pave the way for closer Thai-Chinese commercial ties. In terms of trade, China is Thailand’s most important partner.

The prime minister said that stronger economic ties between the two countries would foster an atmosphere conducive to the two countries’ shared goals of prosperity, stability, and unification.

According to him, the Thai government has been attempting to speed up the country’s economic recovery through the reopening of borders, which is vital for the revival of the country’s key economic pillars—foreign direct investment, the tourist industry, and the service sector.

This year marks ten years of a full strategic relationship between the governments of Thailand and China. The Thai administration has said it is ready to cooperate with Beijing to improve ties in the coming decade.
