This month’s APEC Economic Leaders’ Week will be held in Bangkok, and the primary airport for economic leaders, executives, and media personnel to arrive at will be Suvarnabhumi Airport. The airport was inspected by the Minister of Transportation to ensure that all necessary preparations had been made.
The Thai Minister of Transportation, Saksayam Chidchob, was at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport today to check on the airport’s readiness to handle VIP travelers during APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) 2022, which will be held in Bangkok from November 14-19.
As Thailand’s primary airport, which also serves as the country’s principal international gateway, it is anticipated that the majority of AELW attendees would arrive at this airport.
Mr. Saksayam stated that he had given orders for all relevant agencies, including the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand, Airports of Thailand, which owns and operates six airports, and other related organizations, to ensure that all necessary infrastructure and personnel were in place for the event. In order to streamline the APEC leaders’ travel paperwork, these departments will work in tandem with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Customs Department, and the Excise Department.
In order to better serve its customers, Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport has installed 19 new passport control checkpoints.
Don Muang International Airport, Bangkok’s secondary airport, also has facilities ready for the AELW, including 101 aprons, of which 17 are for overnight parking. The Minister of Transport has requested that all relevant agencies provide the highest possible level of security for the arrival and departure of the country’s top leaders.
There will be no interruption to commercial flights at any airport due to the AELW. Common travelers won’t notice any difference in service as a result of the airport’s preparations for business executives.
