The Prime Minister is concerned about the safety of Loy Krathong festivities

In light of the Halloween crowd crush in Seoul, South Korea, the Prime Minister has instructed event organizers to prioritize the safety of Loy Krathong attendees.

In order to ensure the safety of Loy Krathong revelers, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has mandated that relevant authorities conduct safety inspections of all piers and pontoons hosting celebrations. The event crew should be prepared to support the public and respond to any emergencies that may arise.

The usage of explosives and firecrackers at Loy Krathong celebrations has been banned in several regions this year due to safety concerns. The Prime Minister has urged rigorous observance of the prohibition on sky lanterns, rockets, and fireworks in regions close to airports.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has announced that city hall personnel would be stationed at ports to maintain public safety and provide assistance. Each pontoon will have a maximum occupancy of 1 person per 1 square meter for obvious safety reasons.

The Chao Phraya River will be patrolled by the city during the event to protect the safety of the people. The public is urged to use the 24-hour hotlines 199 and 1555 to report incidents and seek emergency help, respectively.
