Xi will visit Thailand and attend the G20 Summit, as well as the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting

According to Hua, President Xi Jinping will attend the 29th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, as well as visit Thailand from November 17 to 19, at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

On the invitation of President Joko Widodo of the Republic of Indonesia, Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the 17th Group of 20 (G20) Summit in Bali, Indonesia, from November 14 to 17. Hua Chunying, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, made the statement here on Friday.

According to Hua, Xi will conduct bilateral discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, US President Joe Biden, Senegalese President Macky Sall, and Argentine President Alberto Fernandez, among others, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit and the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

On Friday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhao Lijian told a daily press conference that the G20 Bali Summit is the first global summit that China’s top leader would attend following the successful conclusion of the Communist Party of China’s 20th National Congress (CPC). Global development is troubled by obstacles as a result of fast global changes and a lingering pandemic, both unprecedented in a century, and with the global economy on a downward track. Members of the G20, the primary platform for international economic cooperation, must deepen solidarity and collaboration, coordinate macroeconomic policies, and work together for the world economy’s strong, sustainable, inclusive, and balanced growth, he added.

China, according to Zhao, supports Indonesia’s G20 chairmanship. It is intended that all parties would endeavor to develop agreement and advance collaboration on fostering global economic recovery and achieving the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development under the theme “Recover Together, Recover.”

The presence of President Xi to this year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting is a significant act of China’s head-of-state diplomacy in the Asia-Pacific. According to Zhao, this indicates China’s significant appreciation for Asia-Pacific economic cooperation.

Noting that as the world economy becomes more unstable and uncertain, regional economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific faces new challenges, Zhao stated that APEC is an important platform for economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific, and President Xi will deliver an important address at the meeting to elaborate on China’s major propositions on deepening Asia-Pacific cooperation and promoting regional and global economic growth.

“We hope that all parties will embrace the vision of an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future, adhere to APEC’s founding missions, deepen solidarity and cooperation, advance the implementation of the APEC Putrajaya Vision 2040, and inject new impetus into Asia-Pacific and beyond economic growth.” “China remains ready to collaborate with all parties to achieve excellent achievements at this summit,” he stated.

Regarding Xi’s visit to Indonesia, Zhao stated that both China and Indonesia are big developing countries with rising economies. The two nations have a wide range of mutual interests and opportunities for collaboration. “Under the strategic leadership of the two presidents, our two nations have developed our new pattern of bilateral relations, which is guided by the “four wheels” of political, economic, cultural, and marine cooperation.” “We have also achieved significant progress toward the objective of cooperatively constructing a China-Indonesia community with a shared future,” he continued.

President Xi will conduct official meetings with President Joko Widodo during his visit to Indonesia. According to him, this is the second meeting between the two leaders following President Joko Widodo’s travel to China in July of this year.

“Guided by the vision of constructing a China-Indonesia community with a shared future,” Zh said, “China hopes to work with Indonesia to deepen high-level strategic mutual trust, strengthen high-quality cooperation on the Belt and Road and practical cooperation in other fields, and advance our comprehensive strategic partnership for more outcomes, to bring more benefits to the two countries and peoples, and contribute more positive energy to regional and global peace and development.”

Noting that China and Thailand are close, friendly neighbors, Zhao stated that high-quality Belt and Road collaboration has shown rewarding results in recent years, with substantial progress achieved in important cooperation projects such as the China-Thailand Railway.

“In July of this year, our two nations decided to establish a China-Thailand community with a shared future, deepening our family-like tie in the new era.” “President Xi’s visit to Thailand coincides with the tenth anniversary of the creation of our comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and is of tremendous significance for bilateral relations,” he added.

President Xi will meet with Prime Minister Prayut during his visit. Zhao added that, guided by the vision of establishing a China-Thailand community with a shared future, China looks forward to strengthening strategic communication and deepening exchanges and cooperation in various sectors with Thailand in order to propel bilateral relations to new heights and inject new vitality into the development of the two countries and the region.
