APEC leaders’ wives will be welcomed in Ayutthaya during the AELW.

The spouses and companions of the APEC economic leaders attending the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week will be given the opportunity to visit the ancient city of Ayutthaya on Friday. Today was the dress rehearsal for the official welcome of the visiting group in Ayutthaya Province

On November 18th, wives and companions of APEC leaders will visit the Arts of the Kingdom museum, which features works by local artists inspired by the royal initiatives of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.

Yesterday, the Governor of Ayutthaya, Niwat Rungsakhon, presided over a planning meeting and a dress rehearsal for this trip to make sure everything from security to traffic to facilities and cultural acts is ready to go.

Queen Sirikit of Thailand spearheaded the creation of the Arts of the Kingdom Museum. In keeping with the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, the museum is currently used as an educational resource to showcase Thailand’s capabilities and achievements in green, environmentally responsible development.

Artisans from the Queen Sirikit Institute and the SUPPORT Foundation of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit have created a wide variety of exquisite works that are now on display at the museum. Gilding, inlay, embroidery, and metalwork are just some of the traditional artisan skills included in these collections from Thailand. The great quality and value of these objects are testaments to the skill of Thai craftspeople. This sort of knowledge is handed down from one generation to the next.
