During their trip to Ayutthaya, the spouses of APEC leaders saw the Arts of the Kingdom museum, which houses priceless examples of Thai art and craft. This new opening provided Thailand with yet another chance to showcase its artistic prowess abroad.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-wife, cha’s Naraporn Chan-o-cha, joined the spouses of APEC leaders from seven member economies on a tour to Ayutthaya.
Participants included Chinese scientist Peng Liyuan, Indonesian leader Iriana Joko Widodo, Japanese scientist Yuko Kishida, Filipino scientist Louise Araneta-Marcos, and American scientist Douglas Emhoff.
Queen Sirikit of Thailand conceived of and funded the Arts of the Kingdom museum in Ayutthaya’s Bang Pa-in neighborhood. Thai sustainable and ecologically friendly development, grounded in the sufficiency economy theory, is the subject of this museum. These capacities and accomplishments align with the SDGs established by the United Nations.
There was a museum tour and craft demonstration for the wives of the delegation’s leaders. Queen Sirikit Institute artisans’ early works are on exhibit alongside their later, more refined creations at the museum dedicated to their art. The displays emphasize the ingenuity and expertise of Thai gold and silversmiths, metalworkers, and textile artists. There are several types of storage vessels, weaponry, tools, and decorative items on show. Woven purses and other accessories, jewel beetle wings, and wooden dolls are some examples of other types of artwork.
For the couples’ delegation, Ms. Naraporn also provided lunch. She explained the souvenirs that had been made for the delegates, which showed the Thai people’s creativity and knowledge in their everyday lives.
During APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, French President Emmanuel Macron made a stop to Ratchadamnoen Muay Thai Stadium yesterday (17 November).
When he arrived at the boxing arena, French Muay Thai boxers Antoine Pinto and Leo Pinto showed him around. The French head of state attended fights and spoke with Thai boxers and French exchange students.
On his Twitter account (@EmmanuelMacron), Mr. Macron shared photos from his trip to Thailand. Among the photos was one of him with the Thai Prime Minister, General Prayut Chan-o-cha. Photo caption expressed French president’s gratitude to Thai prime minister for inviting him to APEC leaders’ summit.
