On November 19, Thailand and Japan co-hosted the “Japan-Thailand Tourism Seminar: Embark on a New Adventure, Discover New Treasures” in Bangkok.

The ceremony was presided over by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who was in Thailand to attend the 18-19 November APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) convened the Japan-Thailand tourism symposium, which was attended by representatives from Japanese and Thai tourism-related firms and government organizations.

This year celebrates 135 years of Japanese-Thai diplomatic ties and the resumption of two-way tourism between Japan and Thailand, which continues to show strong indications of recovery amid increasing flights and visitor arrivals, particularly during this peak season.

Prior to the epidemic, Thailand hosted over 1,787,000 Japanese visitors in 2019, producing over 93 billion baht in income.

Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Yuthasak Supasorn stated that the TAT anticipates the number of Japanese tourists will recover to a level close to that before the epidemic.

To accomplish this, he stated that the TAT will target all market sectors in Japan, concentrating on B-Leisure (business plus leisure) travelers and new high-potential market groups such as Thai drama fans.
