AOT plans to expand the Don Mueang Airport Terminal in order to boost tourism

After cabinet permission last year, Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) announced plans to expand Don Mueang International Airport’s low-cost terminal, with the goal of increasing passenger capacity and increasing tourist revenue for the country.

According to AOT, a budget of 36.8 billion baht has been put up for the project, which is scheduled to begin this year and end in 2029. The airport’s handling capacity will be increased from 30 million to 40 million people per year, thanks to the building of 12 airplane parking stands and 11 jet bridges.

The enlargement will be completed in six phases. The first phase will see the construction of a new concourse and third passenger terminal building at a region south of the airport, as well as the refurbishment of a seven-story parking structure. The second stage will concentrate on the airport’s northern side, including the extension of the northern concourse, the refurbishment of aircraft parking bays, and the construction of VVIP lounges and offices. Construction of a flight operating area, renovation of passenger terminal building 1, and environmental work are also part of the project.

Airports of Thailand Plc is a majority-owned state-owned enterprise in Thailand that manages and operates six international airports. Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, and Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai are among of its airports. The agency offers world-class facilities and services that exceed international standards, while also promoting Thailand as a desired business and leisure travel destination.
