Former Diplomat Found Dead in Mysterious Circumstances at Luxurious Bangkok Residence

BANGKOK, Thailand — In a startling turn of events, the lifeless body of a former diplomat was discovered today in the bathroom of an opulent residence in the affluent neighborhood of Soi Vibhavadi Rangsit 20, Jom Phon, Chatuchak, Bangkok. The incident has left investigators puzzled, as the house was locked from the outside and partially concealed by cardboard boxes.

The grim discovery unfolded as Deputy Superintendent Puthipong Hongthong and his team responded to a report of a suspicious death. The three-story luxury house, which had recently undergone renovations and was completed just a month ago, raised concerns among neighbors due to a foul odor that had emanated from it for the previous two to three days.

The deceased, identified as 63-year-old Wichit, was found on the second floor, in a bathroom obscured by three to four brown cardboard boxes. It appeared that the individual had been deceased for several days. Reports from Sanook confirmed the victim’s former diplomatic status.

Neighbors revealed that Wichit lived alone in the house, which had lights on in one of the bedrooms when investigators arrived. Earlier that morning, a contractor had been scheduled to perform additional work on the property. However, despite repeated attempts to ring the doorbell for access, there was no response. The contractor also detected an unpleasant odor emanating from the residence, prompting a call to the police.

Sutthisan Station officers, accompanied by evidence inspection teams, are actively investigating the case. Thus far, no official statements have been made to the media, and access to the house for photographs has been restricted due to its private estate status.

A preliminary police investigation is currently underway, with a meticulous examination of the scene, analysis of CCTV footage, and witness testimonies all being conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

This incident follows a similarly shocking discovery in July, where police were called to a grisly scene in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thian district. In Phraya Ratchamontri Canal, near the end of Soi Tha Kham 8, Samae Dam sub-district, the lifeless body of a woman was found floating face down, apparently abandoned for the past four days.
