Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, engaged in a significant meeting with Mr. Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister, during the sidelines of the 8th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM MLC) in Beijing.
The focal points of the discussion revolved around bolstering bilateral relations, with emphasis on enhancing high-level interactions and progressing negotiations on a potential mutual visa exemption for ordinary passport holders. A pivotal highlight was the advancement of the Thailand-China high-speed railway project, intended to link with the China-Lao PDR high-speed railway.
Additionally, both sides highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts in combating transnational crimes, exchanging perspectives on pertinent regional issues.
Expressing gratitude, Mr. Parnpree acknowledged the Chinese Government’s support in repatriating Thai nationals from Laukkaing, Myanmar. He proposed revitalizing the Consultation Mechanism between the Foreign Ministers of Thailand and China.
Deputy Prime Minister Parnpree extended an invitation to China’s Foreign Minister to visit Thailand, aiming to engage in crucial discussions. The discourse intends to expedite the process of reaching a mutual agreement on visa exemptions and reinforce collaborative endeavors across various areas of mutual interest.
