Man Rescued from Plastic Bottle Raft in Sriracha Seas

In the coastal town of Sriracha, a compelling tale unfolded as the recent “Taloy” phenomenon, where individuals navigate the seas on makeshift rafts, took an unexpected turn. Today, “Uncle Somkiat,” a 53-year-old resident of Nakhon Phanom, found himself at the center of attention as he bravely attempted to traverse the Gulf of Thailand on a plastic bottle raft, seeking the serene shores of Koh Larn. However, his courageous journey faced a formidable challenge when strong winds veered him towards the treacherous waters, leading to a perilous situation that prompted a swift rescue operation.

The incident, reported to the marine rescue authorities in Pattaya by a group of speedboat operators, unfolded on the evening of March 12. The distressed individual, identified as Mr. Somkiat, was found precariously perched on a plastic bottle raft, adrift in the deep waters approximately 1.8 nautical miles south.
