Foreign Minister Parnpree Resigns Amid Cabinet Reshuffle

Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara has announced his resignation from his ministerial position, citing a commitment to uphold his principles. The resignation coincides with a cabinet reshuffle detailed in the Royal Gazette, which sees him removed from the deputy premiership while retaining the foreign minister portfolio.

Parnpree, reflecting on his tenure, expressed confidence in the benefits his past efforts as both deputy premier and foreign minister have brought to the country. He emphasized his dedication to fulfilling his duties to the best of his abilities, with effective implementation of his work.

The decision to resign has been communicated by Parnpree, yet he has not formally informed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. However, the resignation is set to take effect immediately.

Regarding his successor, Parnpree expressed optimism that a suitable candidate would be identified to assume the roles of deputy prime minister and foreign minister.

When questioned about his future involvement with the Pheu Thai party, of which he is a longstanding senior member, Parnpree stated his continued affection for the party but indicated a need for further contemplation before making any decisions.

Parnpree’s resignation letter, circulating widely on social media, confirmed his departure and highlighted his accomplishments during his tenure. Notable achievements include negotiations resulting in the release of Thai nationals held in Israel and the repatriation of thousands of Thais from Israel to Thailand. Additionally, he underscored efforts in fostering relationships with ASEAN, the EU, India, and other global powers, as well as the initiation of visa-free schemes with certain countries.

In concluding his letter, Parnpree expressed hope that the cabinet reshuffle would lead to a more transparent and beneficial administration for the country. He extended gratitude to the prime minister for the opportunity to serve in the government.
