Ginger Cat Nuu Rang Causes Stir at Airport

A 9-month-old ginger cat named “Nuu Rang” captured the hearts of netizens last week after a video surfaced on social media, showcasing his adorable perch atop an airport escalator LED directional sign pillar. The charming feline drew tourists eager to snap photos with him, turning him into an overnight sensation.

However, the buzz around Nuu Rang prompted airport officials to issue a warning to his owner, following concerns raised by some netizens regarding the presence of pets in public areas. Worries over potential allergies, negative implications for the airport’s image, and safety concerns for both passengers and the cat itself prompted the cautionary measure.

Authorities at Suvarnabhumi Airport clarified on Friday that there are currently no regulations prohibiting pets from being at the airport. Nonetheless, in response to the recent incident, they are contemplating the implementation of new rules or guidelines. Suggestions include mandating that pet owners keep their animals on a leash while in public areas.

Ms. Nokporn Charoenjitchinda, Nuu Rang’s owner, refrained from further media interviews following the directive from airport authorities. She previously expressed her frustration over the sudden attention, stating that while she enjoys interactions with people while out with Nuu Rang, she values her privacy upon returning home.

In a previous interview, Ms. Nokporn shared that Nuu Rang, whom she raised from a kitten, is deeply attached to her. She recounted the tragic circumstances surrounding his upbringing, including his mother’s demise and her subsequent decision to care for him.

Accompanying her boyfriend, who works at the airport, Ms. Nokporn brings Nuu Rang along due to his aversion to being left alone. Despite not having a full-time job herself, she assists her boyfriend with various tasks, ensuring she can look after her beloved pet.

Nuu Rang’s adventures at the airport, including his perch atop the escalator sign, garnered attention and curiosity from passersby. His presence, while unconventional, became a familiar sight to many, with Ms. Nokporn ensuring he remained by her side during her shifts.

The ginger cat’s penchant for outdoor exploration led to the creation of a dedicated Facebook page, “Nuu Rang, Suvarnabhumi’s Ginger Cat,” allowing fans to keep up with his antics and adorable moments, even if they won’t spot him roaming the airport halls.
