The Supreme Administrative Court upheld the Central Administrative Court’s ruling today, allowing the Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRT) to finalize a contract with Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company (BEM) for the construction of the Orange Line extension from Bang Khun Non to Min Buri.
This decision follows a lawsuit filed by the Bangkok Mass Transit System Company (BTSC) in the Central Administrative Court. The BTSC challenged the MRT’s bidding process for the extension project, alleging that the MRT had altered the bidder qualifications, which they claimed caused financial harm to their company.
Despite these allegations, the Central Administrative Court determined that the MRT’s actions were lawful and did not inflict any damage on the BTSC.
The Supreme Administrative Court’s agreement with the lower court’s decision clears the way for the MRT to proceed with its contract with BEM for the Orange Line extension. This development marks a significant step forward in the expansion of Bangkok’s transit infrastructure.
The hearing saw attendance from various officials and representatives from the involved parties, marking a critical juncture in the ongoing efforts to enhance Bangkok’s public transportation system.
