An explosion rocked an oil tanker at a privately owned shipyard in Pathum Thani today, injuring at least six people and sparking a massive fire. The incident occurred near Bot Temple in the Sam Khok district around 3:30 p.m., according to rescue worker Pornthep Ploysang.
Residents in the vicinity reported hearing the blast, which was followed by a significant fire that firefighters eventually managed to extinguish. The injured, who sustained minor burns, were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
This explosion marks the second major industrial accident in the area today. Earlier, a crane collapsed at a construction site in On Nut Soi 86 in Bangkok’s Prawet district, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries.
The string of accidents highlights ongoing safety concerns in the industrial sectors of Pathum Thani and Bangkok. Further investigations are expected to determine the causes and enforce stricter safety measures to prevent future incidents.
