Tour Boat Collision in Bangkok Injures Four Passengers

At 11:40 a.m. on August 15, 2024, a tour boat collided with a Chao Phraya Express Boat near the mouth of the Bangkok Noi Canal, resulting in injuries to four passengers on the express boat. The incident occurred as the express boat was traveling from Sathorn Pier to Nonthaburi Province when the tour boat, maneuvering into the canal, struck its right side.

The collision left two Canadian men and two Thai women injured. The Canadian men sustained head and leg injuries, while the Thai women reported leg injuries and chest tightness. All four were transported to Siriraj Hospital, where their conditions were reported as stable. The tour boat had no passengers on board at the time of the incident.

Following the accident, the Chao Phraya Express Boat was docked at the pier near Somdet Phra Pinklao Bridge. The Marine Department quickly intervened, seizing the licenses of both boat drivers and ordering the vessels to be taken out of service. This action was necessary to clear the Chao Phraya River for the upcoming rehearsals of the Royal Barge Procession, scheduled for October 27.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, with authorities expected to pursue further legal action. It was reported that the tour boat suddenly cut across the bow of the express boat, leading to the crash .
