At approximately 06:30 a.m. on August 19, 2024, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sarayuth Thanirat, Deputy Inspector of Chian Yai Police Station in Nakhon Si Thammarat, received a report of a deceased person found on a Bangkok-Hat Yai bus. The bus was parked in front of the Bo Lo Police Booth in Moo 7, Mae Chao Yuhua Subdistrict, Chian Yai District. The report was promptly relayed to his superiors, and Lieutenant Colonel Sarayuth, along with Police Colonel Somporn Prutsawanit, the Superintendent of Chian Yai Police Station, led an investigative team to the scene. They were accompanied by a medical examiner and rescue personnel from the Mae Chao Yuhua rescue unit.
Upon arrival, authorities found the bus with Bangkok license plates parked at the location. Inside, they discovered the lifeless body of a woman identified as Mrs. King-or (last name withheld), aged 57, reclining in her seat. A forensic team, working alongside the medical examiner, inspected the body but found no signs of injury or foul play.

Initial investigations revealed that the deceased had boarded the bus in Bangkok, intending to return home to Songkhla Province. There were several dozen passengers on the bus. During the journey, the driver stopped at Bo Lo intersection to allow passengers to disembark. It was at this moment that a passenger seated near Mrs. King-or noticed her body was stiff and unresponsive. The discovery prompted the passenger to alert the driver, who then contacted the authorities. The individual who had been seated next to the deceased reported feeling unnerved after realizing they had been sitting next to a corpse for a significant portion of the trip.
Police Colonel Somporn stated that the body was transferred to Chian Yai Hospital for a thorough autopsy. Preliminary medical examinations indicated that the cause of death was acute heart failure. The deceased’s relatives were notified and expressed no suspicion regarding the cause of death. The police have documented the incident meticulously and will hand over the body to the family for funeral arrangements according to local customs.
