Appeal Filed in Case of Swiss Man’s Acquittal in Alleged Assault on Thai Doctor

The legal team of Dr. Thandao Chandam, a 27-year-old Thai doctor, has filed an appeal in the Phuket Appeals Court after a Swiss man, Urs Fehr, 45, was acquitted of assault charges. The incident allegedly took place on February 24, when Fehr reportedly kicked Dr. Chandam in the back and verbally abused her while she was seated outside his villa on Yamu Beach, Thalang district.

On September 3, the Phuket Provincial Court dismissed the charges against Fehr due to insufficient evidence. However, legal veteran Nipit Intarasombut, representing Dr. Chandam, announced an appeal, emphasizing that the court should lean towards the argument that appears most reasonable. Nipit stated, “The punishment may not be severe, but the case has impacted public sentiment.”

The appeal seeks to reassess the case based on the context of the alleged assault and public reaction, with hopes for a decision that acknowledges the emotional impact on the local community.
