Mountain B, a nightclub in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, caught fire in the early hours of August 5, 2022, resulting in 26 deaths and around 50 injuries. On March 18, 2025, the Pattaya Provincial Court delivered its verdict, finding all four defendants guilty of negligence leading to death, unauthorized construction, and operating an entertainment venue without a license.
The court sentenced the nightclub’s owner, known as Sia B, to five years and four months in prison with a fine of 133,000 baht. His wife and father each received ten years and ten months in prison and fines of 266,000 baht. The venue’s electrician was sentenced to five years and one month in prison, along with a fine of 125,000 baht. All four have applied for bail while awaiting potential appeals.
Compensation for victims varies, with amounts ranging from 2 million to 5 million baht per individual, depending on court rulings. A lawyer representing some of the victims stated that while the verdict was a step toward justice, legal proceedings remain ongoing, particularly concerning potential liability of government officials. The National Anti-Corruption Commission has yet to issue a ruling on their responsibility, and a separate lawsuit seeking damages from state agencies is currently under review by the Rayong Administrative Court.
The site of the former Mountain B nightclub has since been demolished and remains abandoned, overgrown with grass.
