Thailand Considers Hosting Formula One Race to Boost Tourism

Thailand is assessing the feasibility of hosting a Formula One (F1) race, aiming to enhance its global presence in motorsport and attract tourism revenue.

Formula One Group CEO Stefano Domenicali recently met with Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to discuss the potential of bringing F1 to Thailand. The discussions focused on infrastructure, investment requirements, and possible race locations. Domenicali highlighted the country’s strong motorsport fan base and the economic benefits an F1 event could bring.

Both parties agreed to explore how F1 could serve as a driver for tourism and cultural promotion. Domenicali pointed out that host countries often integrate local traditions into race events, and Thailand’s rich heritage and hospitality could add to the appeal of the F1 calendar.

With a global audience of 1.61 million viewers, Thailand is now evaluating suitable venues and public engagement strategies to support its bid. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Suriya Jungrungreangkit, along with Minister of Tourism and Sports Sorawong Thienthong, were also present at the discussions.
