Foreign motorcyclist dies in high-speed crash in Phuket

A foreign man believed to be Russian died in the early hours of April 1, 2025, after a high-speed motorcycle crash in Phuket left his body severely dismembered. Authorities suspect that excessive speed caused the rider to lose control before colliding with a roadside electric pole.

Phuket City Police Station received a report of the incident at approximately 00:30 local time. The crash occurred on Chaloem Phra Kiat Road, also known as the outbound Bypass Road, near a gas station in the Rassada Subdistrict of Mueang District. Rescue workers from the Phuket Kusontham Foundation and a physician from Vachira Phuket Hospital were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders found a dismembered body in two separate sections across the road. The lower part of the body was discovered near the base of the electric pole, while the upper torso, still wearing a helmet, was found around 30 to 60 meters away. Additionally, remnants of internal organs were reported to be scattered in the vicinity. The victim’s mobile phone, which displayed the Russian language on its screen, was recovered near the crash site.

The motorcycle, identified as a Honda Forza 350 with a registration plate from Maha Sarakham Province, sustained extensive damage. The vehicle was broken apart, with parts strewn across the roadway.

Eyewitnesses stated that the motorcyclist was traveling at high speed before losing control and crashing. It is believed that the force of the impact with the pole led to the body being torn apart upon collision. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have transferred the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full autopsy. Coordination with the Russian Embassy is underway to confirm the victim’s identity and contact relatives for repatriation and religious rites.

Officials on-site included investigators from Phuket City Police Station and forensic personnel. Rescue operations were conducted by the Phuket Kusontham Foundation.
