BANGKOK – Minister of Transport, Suriya Jungrungreangkit, has issued directives aimed at tackling the soaring airfares and facilitating tourism influx during peak festival seasons. The first meeting convened on February 20th to address these concerns.
In response, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) organized a subsequent meeting with six major domestic airlines, namely Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, Thai Lion Air, Nok Air, and Thai Vietjet. The meeting focused on evaluating the operational readiness and capacity of each airline, with the goal of optimizing flight availability during festive periods.
In preparation for the upcoming Songkran Festival, plans have been devised to introduce 38 special flights from April 11th to 12th and April 15th to 16th. These additional flights will serve airports across various regions, including Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, and Ubon Ratchathani, aiming to provide approximately 13,000 extra seats for travelers.
