A Bangkok taxi driver, identified as Thanadol from Non Sung district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, has been apprehended by metropolitan police officers for allegedly sexually assaulting a passenger. The incident, which occurred during the early hours of March 14, saw the victim reportedly subjected to non-consensual acts while en route from an entertainment venue in the Ekkamai area to her residence in Ram Inthra.
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, hailed the taxi with the expectation of a safe journey home. However, the situation took a harrowing turn when the driver diverted to a secluded stretch of road and allegedly forced the victim to perform oral sex against her will.

Upon receiving a report of the incident, authorities swiftly moved to arrest Thanadol, executing a warrant issued by the Min Buri Criminal Court. However, during his apprehension at the National Housing Authority’s Pim Sin Sukhapiban 3 building in the Sa-i Mai district of Bangkok, Thanadol vehemently denied all allegations, claiming instead that he was the one subjected to harassment by the passenger.
The case has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting law enforcement officials to issue a warning, particularly to women who may find themselves traveling alone late at night. Police Major General Theeradech Thamsuthi, head of the Metropolitan Police’s Special Branch, emphasized the importance of precautionary measures, such as photographing the taxi’s license plate and communicating one’s whereabouts to a trusted individual.
In light of recent events, it becomes imperative for individuals, especially vulnerable groups like late-night commuters, to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety while traveling. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers faced by passengers, underscoring the need for continued efforts to address and prevent such incidents in the future.
