PEA Launches CARBONFORM for Greenhouse Gas Management

On May 14, 2024, Mr. Supachai Ekaun, Governor of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), presided over the launch of the “CARBONFORM” greenhouse gas management platform. The event, held at PEA’s Head Office and broadcast live through the WebEx system, featured a special lecture on “PEA and the Journey Towards the PEA Carbon Neutrality Plan and the Future Direction of PEA and Net Zero.” The ceremony was attended by honored guests, external agencies, executives, and PEA employees.

PEA’s mission is to provide electricity distribution services that drive the country’s economic development while maintaining social and environmental responsibilities. In alignment with the global push towards sustainability, PEA aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2037. To support this goal, PEA developed the CARBONFORM platform, a tool designed to assess and manage greenhouse gas emissions for various organizations.

The CARBONFORM platform invites electricity users, particularly legal entities within PEA’s 74 provinces of responsibility (excluding Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan), to utilize its comprehensive features for managing greenhouse gas emissions. The platform offers detailed identification of emission sources, including energy use, transportation, and supply chains. It provides real-time tracking, analysis, and customizable reports to help organizations achieve their sustainability goals efficiently.

Key features of the CARBONFORM platform include:

  1. Real-time display with a Dashboard Infographic.
  2. Automatic, fast, and reliable Scope 2 data (indirect greenhouse gas emissions from purchased electricity) for customers within PEA’s responsibility.
  3. Customizable scopes of work according to the organizational structure.
  4. User-friendly interface with accurate calculations.
  5. Automated report generation according to TGO Green Office standards.
  6. Templates for easy setup tailored to organizational scope.
  7. Carbon footprint calculation according to ISO 14064-1 CFO and TGO standards.

This innovation by PEA is suitable for organizations of all sizes and can be tested for free under specified terms and conditions. The CARBONFORM platform is accessible at https://bufferbox.pea.co.th/.

Mr. Ekaun emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Our priority is to ensure the safety and efficiency of our energy distribution while committing to sustainability and carbon neutrality.” With the CARBONFORM platform, PEA is taking a significant step towards a sustainable future, encouraging other organizations to join in the effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve environmental goals.
