Thailand Launches Off-Season Tourism Campaign

The cabinet has decided to initiate tourism promotional campaigns during the tourism low season from May 1 until November 30, aimed at boosting tourism in 55 secondary provinces and select districts of 15 main provinces through tax incentives for companies and individuals.

The campaign encourages companies to organize training courses and seminars in these regions by offering tax deductions. Companies participating in the campaign can deduct twice the actual amount spent on such events in secondary provinces and 1.5 times the amount spent in specified districts of main tourist provinces. The actual expenses must be substantiated with receipts.

Individuals traveling to these areas will also benefit from tax incentives. They can claim deductions on actual spending up to 15,000 baht for expenses related to lodging in hotels or homestays and services provided by tour agencies, supported by receipts.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Radklao Inthawong Suwankiri highlighted that the program aims to stimulate local economies by attracting more visitors during the off-peak season. The government anticipates a cost of 1.2 billion baht in lost revenue from corporate tax and 581 million baht from personal income tax due to these incentives.

Officials across various departments have been briefed on the campaign, ensuring a coordinated effort to maximize the benefits of the initiative.
