Pit Bull Attack in Pathum Thani Claims Elderly Woman’s Life

A 67-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being attacked by a Pit Bull in Pathum Thani, Thailand, while cycling near her home in Chiang Rak Noi, Sam Khok District. The victim, identified as Daeng Thamtanta, was discovered with severe bite injuries covering most of her body. Despite emergency responders’ efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred around 16:30, according to the Sam Khok Police Station. The dog, named Poikae, belonged to Mrs. Kiatkanok Taenla, a nearby resident who kept Poikae along with six other dogs. Witnesses heard the attack and rushed to assist. One neighbor, 76-year-old Mrs. Pratheuang Nakpradit, recounted hearing dogs fighting and discovered Daeng being viciously mauled. Despite desperate attempts to intervene, the attack proved fatal.

In a concerning revelation, Mrs. Kiatkanok, the dog’s owner, admitted that this was not the first violent incident involving Poikae. The Pit Bull had previously bitten family members, including her 17-year-old daughter. Struggling to control the dog, Mrs. Kiatkanok expressed her wish to surrender Poikae to an animal protection group, recognizing the danger posed by the aggressive pet.

Local residents confirmed that Poikae had a history of attacking people, sparking fears over safety within the neighborhood. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, and Daeng’s body has been transferred to the Forensic Science Institute for further examination.

The repeated aggression of Poikae has raised serious concerns about pet ownership responsibilities and neighborhood safety, particularly regarding dangerous breeds.
