Thailand has been named the world’s top spa and wellness destination by Hospitality Horizon, a prominent travel publication based in India.
The award was announced at a ceremony in Mumbai on 14 June 2025, highlighting Thailand’s growing recognition in the global wellness tourism sector.
The accolade acknowledges Thailand’s diverse wellness offerings, which combine traditional practices, natural surroundings, and modern hospitality services. Industry observers note that such recognition is likely to further enhance the country’s profile in the global health tourism market, especially as international demand for wellness travel continues to grow.
The announcement comes as Thailand hosts the Wellness and Healthcare Expo 2025, taking place from 26 to 29 June at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC). Billed as the country’s largest health-focused trade event, the expo is expected to generate over 120 million baht in business transactions.
Government officials described the award as aligned with ongoing efforts to position Thailand as a leading health and wellness hub. Deputy Government Spokesperson Sasikarn Wattanachan said the recognition supports the national policy focus and contributes to the broader goal of enhancing the value of Thai tourism through health innovation and wellness services.
