Student struck by bus on Bangkok zebra crossing

A university student was hit by a bus while crossing the road at a designated pedestrian crossing on Sukhothai Road in Bangkok during rush hour on June 26. The incident, which occurred around 5:24 PM near the Vachiraphayaban intersection, was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and later circulated widely on social media.

The footage shows the student stepping onto the zebra crossing from between stationary vehicles when she is suddenly struck by a bus traveling at high speed in the outer lane. The impact caused the woman to be thrown a significant distance through the air. She survived the collision and is currently being treated in hospital.

The video, posted to Facebook on July 2, has drawn widespread public reaction. Many commenters criticized the bus driver’s actions, citing apparent reckless driving and claims that the vehicle may have been traveling in the wrong lane. Others expressed concern for the victim’s condition and called for stricter enforcement of pedestrian safety measures.

A Facebook user later identified herself as the injured student, assuring the public that she was safe and recovering.

Further details about the driver or potential legal action were not immediately available.
