Bangkok is the second best city in Asia for digital nomads

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to announce that Bangkok has been named the second best city in the world and the best city in Asia for digital nomads in a new study conducted by The Instant Group, a UK-based flexible working solutions provider.

TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn stated, “This is a wonderful accolade for both Bangkok and Thailand, recognizing the Thai capital’s modernity, connectivity, and affordability.” It’s even more satisfying when you consider how well it complements Thailand’s goal of growing its digital nomad travel sector as part of the ‘Visit Thailand Year 2022: Amazing New Chapters’ campaign.”

Bangkok came in second only to Lisbon, Portugal in a global ranking of 80 cities for digital nomads, scoring well in key areas such as affordability, weather, broadband speed, scenery, and transportation. Its impressive ranking was aided by the availability of a wide range of excellent local cuisine and street food, more than 15,000 high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots, excellent transportation options, and some of the most affordable accommodation available globally.

Bangkok was also one of only two Asian cities to make the list of the top ten cities in the world, the other being Seoul in seventh place.

According to research, there are already 35 million digital nomads worldwide, and with advances in technology, remote working, and workplace culture, this number could reach one billion by 2035. According to predictions, the global nomadic workforce will account for one out of every three employees.

Along with Bangkok, Thailand has other popular digital nomad destinations such as Phuket, Samui, and Chiang Mai.
