The Kingdom of Thailand has become the first Asian country to introduce Google Pay and Wallet

PromptPay and other cashless solutions gained popularity in Thailand during the epidemic, when more people stayed indoors and officials advised the population to avoid contact with others. The launch partners for Google Pay and Wallet for Android include Bangkok Bank and KTC.

With Google Pay, the company hopes to streamline the payment process even further by consolidating all payment methods into a single app.

One’s credit card information can be stored, and then purchases can be made with a tap of the user’s phone or watch. Numerous financial institutions have begun offering cardless ATM services, but Google Pay renders even credit cards obsolete. The system can only store credit cards from Bangkok Bank and KTC for the time being; debit cards are not supported.

Google Wallet not only serves as a means of payment, but also stores boarding cards, negating the need for passengers to print them out before departure.
