PM meets with French President for bilateral talks to boost cooperation in all sectors

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha and French President Emmanuel Macron have had a bilateral meeting that is expected to strengthen Thailand-France relations. The two presidents also praised the vibrancy of Thai-French relations.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha met with French President Emmanuel Macron in a bilateral meeting. The latter is attending the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting as a special guest of the host country, Thailand. Following the meeting, government spokeswoman Anucha Burapachaisri commented on the major points of the debate. He stated that Gen. Prayut is pleased to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron for further talks and appreciates the vitality in Thai-French ties. He stated that the French president’s visit is expected to help to the development of relations and deliver real outcomes.

Thailand is seeking cooperation from France, a G7 and G20 member, on the primary objectives addressed by Thailand at APEC 2022. Both parties will debate these objectives at the APEC leaders’ conference.

The French president thanked Gen. Prayut for the warm welcome and praised Thailand’s hosting of APEC 2022. He stated that APEC’s cooperative goals for commerce, investment, peace-building, and the environment coincide with France’s objectives. He also stated that he supports Thailand’s goals.
