Visit by the Saudi Crown Prince Marks a Major Milestone

The visit of the Saudi Arabian Crown Prince to Thailand during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) represented a significant turning point in the restoration of Thai-Saudi diplomatic relations. He was the first Saudi royal to visit Thailand officially in over three decades.

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, visited Thailand on an official tour as a guest of the Thai government at the AELW in Bangkok last week.

Several high-ranking Thai officials lauded the visit of the Crown Prince as a significant milestone in the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During his tour, the Saudi Crown Prince met with Thai authorities and groups, including Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha and Central Islamic Council of Thailand delegations.

As the son of a Thai worker in Saudi Arabia, Labor Minister Suchart Chomklin disclosed that the Crown Prince was especially interested in his family history.

At the conclusion of his journey, the Saudi Crown Prince thanked His Majesty the King of Thailand for his hospitality and praised the relationship between the two nations.

In addition, the Crown Prince complimented the Thai prime minister on the successful hosting of the AELW and reaffirmed his desire to broaden the scope of bilateral collaboration and friendship.
