Ashton Asoke Condo Receives Positive Update: Demolition Avoided with a Path to Resolution

In a recent development, the Ashton Asoke Sukhumvit 21 condominium in Bangkok received a positive update after the Supreme Administrative Court upheld the judgment of the Central Administrative Court, revoking the construction notification receipt. As a response to this ruling, Governor Chatchart Sittipunt promptly initiated the establishment of a dedicated working group to address the matter. A press conference has been scheduled for August 3, where further details will be unveiled.

Governor Chatchart expressed his readiness to comply with the Supreme Administrative Court’s order regarding the revocation of the construction notification for the Ashton Asoke condo. The Wattana District Office, as the owner of the area, will proceed by sending a letter to Ananda MF Asia Asoke Co., Ltd., the joint venture company responsible for the Ashton Asoke project. The letter will instruct the building owner to make necessary corrections.

It is crucial to note that the revocation of the construction notification does not automatically mean that the Ashton Asoke condo will face demolition. Instead, there is a clear guideline for the project’s owning company, allowing them to apply for a new construction notice from the Wattana District Office. To do so, the company must adhere to the court’s order, which involves incorporating entrances and exits to the project, ensuring a road width of 12 meters, and adjacent to a public road with a width of 18 meters, in compliance with building control and city planning laws.

The project owner company has the opportunity to modify the entrance-exit according to the court’s requirements, enabling them to apply for a construction notification. The Bangkok legal team will thoroughly consider the details of the Ashton Asoke case before Governor Chatchart makes the official announcement, considering its impact on the public.

Ananda Company, which holds a majority stake in the joint venture, is exploring various solutions, focusing on enhancing the entrance and exit points of the Ashton Asoke project to align with building control regulations.

This promising update offers hope for the Ashton Asoke condominium and the community, assuring that the issue can be resolved through careful consideration and adherence to urban development laws. As the eagerly awaited press conference approaches, stakeholders and residents are optimistic about the positive turn of events for this significant Bangkok landmark.
