In a notable diplomatic event, Mrs. Wanida Gajaseni, the Senior Specialist on Foreign Affairs from the Government Public Relations Department, Thailand, alongside information officers from the Foreign Office, converged on Brunei Darussalam from October 10 to 11, 2023, to participate in the 58th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (58th ASEAN COCI). This significant gathering encompassed both the ASEAN COCI-SCI Meeting and the ASEAN COCI-SCC Meeting.
On the inaugural day of the conference, October 10, 2023, PRD Thailand, designated as the responsible agency for the information sector, actively engaged in the ASEAN COCI-SCI Meeting. The Thai delegation took the opportunity to provide comprehensive updates on their ongoing and completed projects, further underlining their commitment to the cause. Additionally, they lent their support to new projects slated for implementation in 2024.
A particularly noteworthy proposition put forth by PRD Thailand was the “A Journey of ASEAN Flavor” project. This initiative aimed to engage ASEAN media practitioners and AMS focal points in a series of activities under the banner of the 3Ts: Taste, Tour, and Talk. These activities were designed not only to promote the diverse and delectable cuisine of ASEAN but also to fortify the network of ASEAN media professionals and raise awareness about food security in the ASEAN region.
The grand opening ceremony for the 58th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (58th ASEAN COCI) was scheduled for the following day, October 11, 2023. During this ceremony, the newly proposed projects in both the information sector (ASEAN COCI-SCI) and the culture sector (ASEAN COCI-SCC) were expected to be officially adopted by all participating committees within the COCI framework. This collective endeavor showcased the unity and dedication of ASEAN member states in advancing their cultural and informational objectives on the international stage.
