Over 1 million Malaysians have visited Thailand in 2022

So far this year, Thailand has welcomed more than a million Malaysian vacationers. In light of the current tourist high season, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is hoping to increase this number to 1.8 million by the end of the year.

Tanes Petsuwan, TAT’s vice governor, has said that Malaysia is a promising market because visitors from that country may reach Thailand both by land and by air. According to him, the vast majority of Malaysian tourists entering Thailand do so through automobile. Malaysian visitors visiting Thailand now venture outside the city of Hat Yai. Krabi, Phatthalung, Phuket, Satun, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai have all been replaced as preferred destinations. There were 1,041,293 Malaysian tourists in Thailand between January 1 and October 7 of this year. With so many people visiting, Thailand probably made roughly 26.575 billion baht ($675 million).

Tourism from Malaysia is expected to rise now that the high season in Thailand has begun, according to Mr. Tanes, who is in charge of international marketing for Asia and the South Pacific. Diwali, Christmas, and New Year’s all fall during this peak season, which also corresponds with the school holiday in Malaysia. Mr. Tanes has stated that the TAT will regularly perform tourism promotion events in an effort to lure 1.8 million Malaysian tourists to Thailand this year.

According to the TAT deputy governor, the agency’s collaboration with Malaysian partners has helped revive the tourism sector. To wit, after having ceased, 23 foreign flights are presently operating daily between Malaysia and Thailand.
